Everyone is welcome here, no matter who you are or where you are on your faith journey. If you have lost touch with us for a while we would be delighted to see you again and listen to your story.
As we journey through Lent, I pray that you will seek God in the quiet, and be overwhelmed by His peace and solace. God is ever creative. His love renews all things and is the source of our hope. Be assured that you are in my prayers; and I ask you to keep me in yours.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Ralph Candy
Parish Priest
In response to our baptismal call to share in the mission of Jesus Christ, we strive to empower our parishioners of the Sacred Heart and St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus to develop a greater awareness of and participation in the social dimension of the Church. To this end, we work in solidarity on behalf of the poor and vulnerable to bring about a more just, hope-filled, and compassionate society. Please see our social justice and charity page for further information /justice-charity.
Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary School is a Voluntary Aided Catholic School which was established to serve the Catholic parish of Paignton. Today, it serves a wider community, and enjoys welcoming new families to our school and watching them become an important part of our Catholic ‘family’.
We are proud that standards of work, conduct, and appearance are high, and parents are expected to co-operate and support the school in maintaining these standards.
Much of the community links we establish happen through the church and the work we do together with parishioners. We also ensure that children have regular opportunities to worship at Mass in order for them to think about the message of the Gospel, and reflect upon their own lives and what they are thankful for. Parents, carers and other members of the family are invited along to these events to watch children share readings and also join in with our singing.
We are always working on extending our community by engaging the children in activities such as 'Shelter Box', 'The Shoe Box appeal' and 'Traidcraft'. These help us to lend our support to people who are less fortunate than us around the world and continue our school ethos of ‘Everyone is Sacred’. The children thoroughly enjoy opportunities to help others and it really does add to our sense of community.
