The League is involved in charitable work of all kinds. Members endeavour to exert influence in those issues rooted in social justice and peace and particularly seek to make the voice of Catholic women heard in the legislative system on issues of the Family. The League offers members the opportunity to develop and learn new skills, enabling them to fulfil their mission of service to one another, to their parish and to the church. Come and join us this Tuesday, 12th October, at 2pm, in the Large Meeting Room (adjacent to the church hall).
The Synodal journey is concerned with how teaching can be lived and applied in the changing contexts of our time. This journey is an opportunity to listen to each other and the Holy Spirit and to reflect on our future path. We want everyone to have an opportunity to express their views. Resources will be provided by the Diocese to parishes, schools and groups to support this listening and discernment process.
First meeting will take place on Wednesday 1st September at 2pm in the Large Meeting Room (side entrance). The meetings will continue on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Everyone is welcome to attend for a chat and a cup of tea - looking forward to seeing you there!
We welcome food donations enabling us to help others: Non-perishable items are especially welcome. Most importantly tinned meat, Custard, Pot Noodles, Mug Shots, Tinned Fruit, Squash, Fruit Juice, Sugar, Shampoo and shower gel. If you are able to help by volunteering at the centre (Southfield Methodist Church) or with food please get in contact with Fr Ralph.
We are a group of Catholic men, young and old alike, who like to gather on a Saturday morning (once a month) to enjoy companionship, a bacon roll and coffee, and discussion about all sorts of topics. Why not come along? See the weekly newsletter for advertised dates and times.
Lent reaches its climax during Holy Week, itself a journey within a journey. The pace of the liturgical year seems to slow down until, in the Paschal Triduum, from Maundy Thursday to the Easter Vigil, we recall the stages of Christ’s passing from this world. Please come and join us to celebrate this most sacred time in the Church's liturgical calendar.
Deacon Joe was received into Church this evening, and for those of you who would like to join the Requiem Mass on Friday 5th March at 11am follow the link below.
Many of you will know that Deacon Joe Owen died last Tuesday, and on behalf of the parishioners at the Sacred Heart Church I send our condolences to John and the family at this sad time.
